One of the layers of security offered by the SmartUI is Data Element security. A Data Element can be a data point, a table in a database, a value from a PLC, a tag in Adroit, or a graphic form in a project. These are all considered as data elements.
Data elements can be secured for specific users and groups (linked to Active Directory / Domain controllers OR local to the PC). Securing a data element provides the ability to protect the following access rights:
- Read
- Write
- Configure
- Remove
Each action can be protected for each Data Element and linked to specific users and groups.
For example to secure a tag in an Adroit Data Source, right click on the tag in the Enteprise Manager and select “Security”.
- Security can be applied hierarchically to all sub elements
- Security can be configured for each specific user and/or group
- Bulk / Large scale security can also be applied using the Excel plug in, see https://adroittechnologiesautomation.com/t/excel-bulk-configuration-tools/93
The same configuration is available for most data sources (including projects for example, where complete projects or individual graphic forms can also be secured).
